Red Stars forward Christen Press scored her first goal of the season just when Chicago needed it most. Down 1-0 in the 89th minute and in danger of losing a third game this season, Press headed home a well-placed cross from midfielder Sofia Huerta to steal a point as Chicago tied the Boston Breakers 1-1 at Toyota Park.
Chicago had an opportunity to tie the game in the 78th minute on a rare indirect free kick in the box after Boston goalkeeper Abby Smith picked up a back pass from defender Allysha Chapman with her hands. Midfielder Danielle Colaprico tapped the ball to Press, whose shot was saved off the line by the Breakers, as Boston had all 11 players standing on the goal line for the kick.
Press had a chance to win the game in the 94th minute, but her shot was saved by Smith.
