It only took 21 minutes for Houston Dash forward Janine Beckie to score a hat trick for Canada in a 6-0 win over Costa Rica Sunday afternoon in Toronto.

Beckie scored her first goal of the game in the 6th minute, running onto a ball over the top and chipping it over the keeper to give Canada a 2-0 lead. Her second goal came in the 13th minute as she again chased down a long ball over the top and slotted it into the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Beckie made it 4-0 in the 21st minute, volleying a right-footed shot into the net after a deft touch from Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair found Beckie open near the top of the 18.

Washington Spirit goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé played the first half and Sky Blue FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan played the second half as the pair combined for the shutout.

Deanne Rose made it 1-0 in the 3rd minute for Canada, off an assist from Sinclair.

Sinclair, who tallied two assists on the afternoon, exited the game in the 67th minute and was replaced by 16-year-old Jordyn Huitema, who went on to score her first two international goals in the 72nd and 74th minutes.

Canada Soccer honored five former NWSL players who’ve retired from international soccer before the game: Kaylyn KyleJosée Bélanger, Lauren Sesselmann, Robyn Gayle and Jonelle Filigno.
