Bowen, Erceg named to New Zealand Women’s World Cup roster

Utah Royals FC defender Katie Bowen and North Carolina Courage defender Abby Erceg have been named to New Zealand’s Women’s World Cup roster, it was announced this week. New Zealand will take on Canada, Cameroon and the Netherlands in Group E.

Bowen (59 caps, 3 goals) and Erceg (135 caps, 6 goals) are on the 23-woman roster that will head to France this summer.

Also on the roster are former NWSL Players Rebekah Stott and Rosie White. The squad is coached by former Orlando Pride head coach Tom Sermanni.

“It’s always an honor to represent New Zealand,” Bowen said in a statement released by Utah Royals FC. “I’m excited for France and to see what our team can do on the world stage. I just want to make my family proud, especially my dad.”

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup begins June 7.
