Brazil beat Japan 2-1 and the United States earned a late draw with Australia on Day 2 of the Tournament of Nations in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Next up: USA vs. Brazil and Japan vs. Australia on Thursday night at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois.

Three teams still have a chance to win the Tournament of Nations title: Australia (4 points), United States (4 points) and Brazil (3 points).

Brazil 2 Japan 1

Orlando Pride forward Marta broke a scoreless deadlock with a goal in the 76th minute, and Brazil went on to beat Japan 2-1 to kick off Day 2 at the Tournament of Nations in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Brazil took advantage of a giveaway in the back by Japan and Raquel quickly passed the ball to Marta as the two pressured Japan’s backline. In a move NWSL fans are well familiar with, Marta cut to her left, and then sent a left-footed shot to the far post and past Japan goalkeeper Sakiko Ikeda.

Brazil and Japan traded goals in extra time — for Brazil, from Beatriz in the 90th minute and for Japan, Rika Masuya in the 93rd minute — but Brazil walked away with the 2-1 win.

It’s a bounce back win for Brazil after their 3-1 loss to Australia on Day 1. For Japan, it’s their second-straight loss in the tournament.

United States 1 Australia 1

Portland Thorns FC midfielder Lindsey Horan scored in the 90th minute to earn the United States a draw with Australia in Sunday’s second game.

Megan Rapinoe earned the assist with her corner kick service to the far post — one of ten corner kicks in the game for the United States.

Australia took the lead early with a goal in the 22nd minute from Chloe Logarzo following a breakaway run from Lisa De Vanna.
