Seattle Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe will miss five weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on her left knee this week, the team announced Friday.

On the NWSL injury report released Friday, Rapinoe is listed as out with a meniscus tear in her left knee. Rapinoe currently leads the league with 12 goals and is the reigning Player of the Month.

The team said Rapinoe reported soreness after the Tournament of Nations.

“Megan first reported knee soreness after the U.S. Women’s National Team match against Japan on August 3rd,” Reign FC director of high performance Nick Leman said in a team press release. “After investigation and consultation, it was determined that arthroscopic surgery was the best course of action.”
