North Carolina midfielder Debinha scored her first National Women’s Soccer League goal as the Courage top Portland Thorns FC in their first-ever home game in front of a crowd of 6,298 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Debinha’s goal came in the 81st minute, a header off a cross from Jessica McDonald that beat Portland goalkeeper Adrianna Franch.

North Carolina had a chance to take the lead in the 75th after the Thorns defender Emily Sonnett was called for a handball in the box, but Samantha Mewis’ penalty kick was stopped by Franch.
