North Carolina forward Jessica McDonald scored her record 33rd NWSL regular season goal and the Courage improved to 4-0-0 with a 1-0 win over the Boston Breakers at Jordan Field in Boston.

McDonald’s goal came in the 32nd minute off an Abby Dahlkemper corner kick. Abby Erceg headed it first, but her shot went off the crossbar before bouncing to McDonald, who slotted it past Breakers goalkeeper Abby Smith for the 1-0 lead.

North Carolina’s stingy defense was once again on full display as the Courage allowed just two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo earned her third shutout of the season and has allowed just one goal through four games.

The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Breakers, who are now 2-2-0 on the season.
