With the NWSL preseason set to begin Monday, February 19, several teams made news on Thursday:

Two days after announcing Amy Rodriguez will be part of the team in 2018, Utah Royals FC announced five more former FC Kansas City players will be in Utah this season.

Utah Royals FC said the five players will arrive in Utah next week: midfielder Maegan Kelly, midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta, defender Sydney Miramontez, midfielder Alexa Newfield and forward Brittany Ratcliffe.

“When we were building the roster, it was important to make sure that we brought back balance and experience from the previous group,” Utah head coach Laura Harvey said in a statement. “Adding all these players into the roster is an excellent example of this. They all have that experience and understand what it takes to be successful at this level.”

The Houston Dash also continued to make roster moves as they announced that defender Bruna Benites has been waived after spending one season with the Dash.

The Red Stars announced that Gary Curneen and Craig Harrington have been named to the coaching staff in Chicago by head coach Rory Dames.

Curneen joins the Red Stars after being the head coach at California State University Bakersfield since 2014. Harrington was most recently the technical director of the Turks and Caicos Islands men’s national team ahead of the 2014 Caribbean Cup Qualifying before leaving the post in 2016.

Also on Thursday, the Courage announced that Makenzy Doniak has renewed her contract with the team, and will return to North Carolina for the 2018 season.
