The National Women’s Soccer league announced on Thursday that North Carolina Courage coach Paul Riley has been suspended for two games following his red card in last year’s semifinal vs. Portland Thorns FC. They also said he had been fined an undisclosed amount. Riley served one game of his suspension at the NWSL Championship last year, which his Western New York Flash won on penalty kicks, so he will only miss North Carolina’s season opener on April 15 at the Washington Spirit.

“The NWSL Disciplinary Committee has determined that Riley committed misconduct characterized as physical contact with Game Officials, separate from referee assault, and is a violation of Section 11.3.6, ‘Major Game Misconduct’ of the League Operations Manual,” the league said in a press release.
