Take a look back at Week 1 of the 2017 NWSL season.

Both Sydney Leroux and Amy Rodriguez scored in their NWSL returns, after both missed last season because of pregnancy. Shortly after Rodriguez’s goal, however, she left the match with an apparent left knee injury. Watch Leroux’s goal here:

Houston’s Rachel Daly looks to be a favorite for Goal of the Week — and an early Goal of the Year of the candidate:

Her teammate, Kealia Ohai also scored in the match and debuted a new goal celebration.

Washington’s Stephanie Labbé, despite the loss to the Courage, was brilliant for the Spirit. She made several great saves, perhaps none better than her second half stops vs. Jessica McDonald and Debinha.

Christine Sinclair and Nadia Nadim goals led the way for Portland as they won the first ever NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime, shutting out the Orlando Pride.

The Thorns also received the 2016 NWSL Shield before the game and the Rose City Riveters paid tribute.

Seattle Reign FC and Sky Blue FC played to a 1-1 draw highlighted by two penalty kicks and a strong performance from Reign goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer.
