Lynn Williams has been voted Player of the Week for Week 16 of the 2018 season by the NWSL Media Association.

The North Carolina Courage (14-1-3, 45 points) clinched a playoff spot thanks to forward Lynn Williams’ hat trick performance against Sky Blue FC to conclude Week 16 action. The Courage went 2-0-0 in Week 16 with a 2-0 win over the Washington Spirit on Wednesday and then a 4-0 win over Sky Blue FC on Saturday.

Williams is now second in the league in goals with eight this season.

Williams took 21 shots, eight on target, and made two key passes on 91 touches in Week 16. Williams is first in the league in shots taken at 60 and has recorded 28 on target. This is the second time in Williams’ NWSL career that she has been honored as NWSL Player of the Week.

All three of Williams’ goals came in the second half. Her first came in the 56th minute on an assist from Kristen Hamilton. Williams hit it one time into the right corner. Her second came in the 72nd minute when Debinha played a ball over the top of Sky Blue’s backline. Williams read the ball over and made a few collecting touches before beating Sky Blue goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan with a shot to the left corner. Williams sealed the game off in the 89th minute when she picked off a pass back and buried it to make it 4-0.
