North Carolina Courage midfielder McCall Zerboni has been named Week 5 Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association. She earns the honor for the second time this month, also winning the nod for Week 3.
Zerboni helped the Courage earn three points in Week 5 after defeating the Houston Dash 2-0 on Saturday, April 28. While Zerboni didn’t score on the day, she was a key piece in the midfield posting a 83.6% passing accuracy percentage. Zerboni was hard to miss on the day making eight tackles and creating two chances for her team on 87 touches, according to Opta.
The Courage (5-0-1) hold the top spot in the league standings and head into Week 6 undefeated. Zerboni has now won Player of the Week twice in her career and last year she was named to the Best IX for the first time.
Zerboni first won Player of the Week this year after scoring a brace in the Courage’s 4-2 road win over the Washington Spirit on April 14. She has two goals so far this season.
The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.
