The Orlando Pride have acquired Lotta Ökvist in a trade with the Houston Dash, the teams announced Wednesday. In exchange, Houston will receive Orlando’s natural third-round pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft.
The Dash selected Ökvist with the 13th pick in the January dispersal draft, after the Breakers ceased operations. She was signed by the Breakers this offseason, and has yet to play in the NWSL. She will not count against the roster limit or salary cap and will not require an international slot for this season for the Pride, per the dispersal draft rules.
“We’re very happy to bring another young, left-footed and versatile player to the Pride,” Pride head coach Tom Sermanni said in a team news release. “Lotta’s style of play fits in with the way we compete on the field. We’re excited to welcome her to Orlando.”
