Sky Blue FC’s Samantha Kerr and the Houston Dash’s Carli Lloyd have been nominated to the shortlist for The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2017 award. Kerr is one of the top scorers in the league with 11 goals so far this season and had a stellar performance at the Tournament of Nations, while Lloyd has been a key part of the Dash’s recent run of form since her return from Manchester City, including a six-game unbeaten streak.

The shortlist of 10 players was compiled by a panel of women’s soccer experts, including Mia Hamm.

Fans help decide who will win the 2017 edition of the award, with a fan vote counting for 25% of the final result. The voting is split evenly between four stakeholders: fans, selected media, and national team coaches and captains.

Voting begins on August 21 at the FIFA website. Fans who participate select their top three candidates, with their first pick earning five points, the second three points, and the third one point. Fans may only vote once during the August 21 – September 7 window.
