The NWSL Playoffs seeding is now set after the regular season came to a close on Saturday, October 12. No. 1 North Carolina Courage will host No. 4 Reign FC and, in the other semifinal, No. 2 Chicago Red Stars welcome No. 3 Portland Thorns FC.

Both semifinals will be played on Sunday, October 20, and will air on ESPN2. The North Carolina Courage-Reign FC matchup will kick off at 1:30 p.m. ET with the Chicago Red Stars-Portland Thorns FC contest following at 3:30 p.m. ET.

The NWSL Championship match will be played the following weekend on Saturday, October 27, at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park with kickoff slated for 3:30 p.m. ET. The final will air on ESPN.

Heading into this year’s playoffs, the Courage have won three successive NWSL Shields and they have reached the final in the previous two seasons, losing in 2017 and winning the title in 2018. Portland Thorns FC are also aiming to return to a third consecutive final, splitting the results the last two years with North Carolina. The Red Stars will appear in the postseason for a fifth consecutive year. Reign FC have been the league runners up on two occasions – 2014 and 2015 – and reached the semifinal stage a season ago.
