The Courage have acquired former Houston Dash defender Stephanie Ochs, the team announced Friday.

Ochs was waived by the Dash in April after spending three seasons in Houston, where she played forward, midfielder and defender.

“[Ochs] will be a valuable addition to our group,” North Carolina coach Paul Riley said in a team press release. “She’s a hybrid player and has a lot of good tools. We are impressed by her speed, strength and passion for the game. She certainly fits our team on the field and in the locker room. Great to have her aboard.”

She joins a Courage team in need of depth on defense as it recently lost defender Yuri Kawamura to a torn ACL and meniscus tear.
