The NWSL Championship kicked off on Sunday, October 27, at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. The North Carolina Courage went on to lift the trophy in a second consecutive season with the added bonus of doing it in their own stadium after cruising to a 4-0 victory against the Chicago Red Stars.

Meeting The Media

On Friday of NWSL Championship weekend, players met with the media as well as Chicago’s Sam Kerr being awarded the MVP trophy after scoring a record-breaking 18 goals in the regular season.






Final Preparations

Both clubs spent time on the field on Saturday, giving fans a chance to watch an open training session ahead of Sunday’s contest.












The Coaches’ Thoughts

In between the open sessions both Courage coach Paul Riley and Red Stars coach Rory Dames spoke to the media to give their thoughts on the upcoming matchup.





Courage Back On Top

The Courage put an exclamation point on a season that saw the club earn a third straight NWSL Shield with a second straight NWSL title.
