  • Portland Thorns FC came from behind to beat the Houston Dash 2-1 on Saturday night in Houston. The win vaults the Thorns into first place in the NWSL with 19 points and a 5-1-4 record (4-1-3 on the road). The Dash are in sixth place with 13 points and a 3-3-4 record.
  • The Dash took the lead in the 51st minute when Kyah Simon headed home a free kick from Christine Nairn.
  • The Thorns comeback was engineered by substitute Tyler Lussi. She entered the match in the 63rd minute, scored in the 70th minute, and assisted on Midge Purce‘s game-winning goal in the 75th minute.
  • Thorns midfielder Andressinha (Brazil) and defender Ellie Carpenter (Australia) returned following their time at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Simon, who scored the Dash’s goal, also made her return after missing time due to injury and international duty for Australia.
