Twelve NWSL players named to Australia’s roster for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Australia has announced the 23-woman roster for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and it features 12 NWSL players. FIFA will officially confirm all rosters on May 27.

Lydia Williams (Reign FC), Clare Polkinghorne (Houston Dash), Chloe Logarzo (Washington Spirit), Steph Catley (Reign FC), Elise Kellond-Knight (Reign FC), Caitlin Foord (Portland Thorns FC), Emily van Egmond (Orlando Pride), Alanna Kennedy (Orlando Pride), Hayley Raso (Portland Thorns FC), Sam Kerr (Chicago Red Stars), Ellie Carpenter (Portland Thorns FC) and Amy Harrison (Washington Spirit) have all been named to the roster.

Australia is in Group C with Italy, Brazil and Jamaica. Their first match will be vs. Italy on June 9. Then they’ll face Australia on June 13 and Jamaica on June 18.

Additionally, Dash forward Kyah Simon will be with the team in France during the tournament on standby, Australia said.

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup begins June 7.
