Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair has been voted Week 2 NWSL Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association.

Sinclair recorded a hat trick on Saturday afternoon in Portland’s wild 4-4 draw with the Chicago Red Stars. The forward opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a scoop shot over Red Stars goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher on an assist from Lindsey Horan. Her second goal came in the 51st minute, thanks to a well-timed run that left her open in the box to finish off a cross from Meghan Klingenberg, and put the Thorns up 3-2. Her third goal came on a penalty kick in the 87th minute, and briefly gave the Thorns a 4-3 lead, before the Red Stars tied it.

It’s the second hat trick of Sinclair’s NWSL career and her second Player of the Week honor. She recorded her first hat trick on July 20, 2014 at home vs. the Boston Breakers and was named Player of the Week.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.
