A look back at a wild Week 2 in the NWSL:

 

Crystal Dunn scored in the 70th and 77th minutes and added an assist to lead the North Carolina Courage to a 5-0 win over the Orlando Pride in the first Wednesday night game of the season. Lynn Williams and Jessica McDonald registered their first goals of the year in the win. Sweden midfielder Julia Spetsmark made her NWSL debut for the Courage in the 74th minute and scored her first NWSL goal in the 88th minute.


In a wild and windy match, the Chicago Red Stars and Portland Thorns FC played to an entertaining 4-4 draw. Thorns forward Christine Sinclair scored three goals in the game, the second hat trick of her NWSL career. Red Stars forward Yuki Nagasato scored twice, including the game-tying goal in the 90th minute. Michele Vasconcelos and Sam Kerr also scored for Chicago. Ana-Maria Crnogorčević also scored for Portland.


The Houston Dash picked up a 1-0 win over Sky Blue FC. Dash midfielder Sofia Huerta scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute. Sky Blue FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan made 10 saves.


A crowd of 18,015 was in attendance for the Utah Royals FC home opener at Rio Tinto Stadium as Utah beat the Washington Spirit 1-0. Utah Royals FC midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta scored the first goal of the season for Utah, on a play started by Christen Press.


Reign FC and the Orlando Pride played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday night. A crowd of 5,323 fans came out to Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington for Reign FC’s first match at their new stadium. Pride defender Alanna Kennedy scored a bicycle kick goal in the 6th minute to give Orlando an early lead. Reign FC rookie midfielder Bethany Balcer scored her first professional goal in her first start to level the score in the 21st minute.
