Another incredible chapter of the Cascadia Rivalry, a new saves record, a first win and another Golden Boot for Sam Kerr. And then the North Carolina Courage completed the best regular season in NWSL history. A look back at the final games of the 2018 NWSL regular season.

 

September 2: Washington Spirit 1 | Sky Blue FC 1

Washington Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe made five saves, bringing her season total to 108 with a save percentage of 78.3%. She broke Alyssa Naeher’s single-season save record of 106, set in 2014 with the Boston Breakers. Sky Blue FC midfielder Sarah Killion scored the equalizer in the 87th minute. Spirit forward Arielle Ship put the Spirit ahead in the 71st minute with her first goal of the year, in her second appearance since returning from a torn ACL. Recap


September 4: Chicago Red Stars 5 | Sky Blue FC 0

The Chicago Red Stars clinched a playoff spot with a 5-0 win over Sky Blue FC in Week 24. Alyssa Mautz scored twice and Michele Vasconcelos scored the first goal of her NWSL career. Rosie White and Sam Kerr also scored for the Red Stars. Recap


September 7: Portland Thorns FC 3 | Seattle Reign FC 1

Portland Thorns FC clinched the No. 2 seed in the NWSL Playoffs with a 3-1 win over Seattle Reign FC, led by a brace from Lindsey Horan. Tobin Heath also scored for the Thorns. Jess Fishlock scored the first goal of the game to give the Reign an early lead before the Thorns scored the next three. Recap


September 8: Sky Blue FC 1 | Orlando Pride 0

Carli Lloyd scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute as Sky Blue FC got their first win of the season. Kailen Sheridan made six saves to earn her second clean sheet and finish the year with 107 saves, second-best in the NWSL. Recap


September 8: Utah Royals FC 2 | Chicago Red Stars 1

Red Stars forward Sam Kerr scored her 16th goal of the season to capture the 2018 NWSL Golden Boot, but it was Utah Royals FC who came away with the win in their final regular season game. Amy Rodriguez scored the equalizer and Katie Stengel got the game-winner. Recap


September 8: North Carolina Courage 5 | Houston Dash 0

The North Carolina Courage beat the Houston Dash 5-0, earning their 17th win and completing the best regular season in NWSL history. The Courage set records for wins (17), points (57), goals scored (53), fewest goals allowed (17), fewest losses (1) and goal differential (+36). Lynn Williams led the way with a brace and the Courage added goals from Jessica McDonald, Crystal Dunn and Kristen Hamilton. Recap
