Kerr scored twice and added an assist in Chicago’s 3-1 win over the North Carolina Courage, which snapped North Carolina’s 15-game regular season unbeaten streak.
Her first goal came in the 13th minute to put the Red Stars on the board first, taking a pass from Yuki Nagasato and slotting it far post. Her second goal came in the game’s final moments as the Courage pressed for an equalizer. Kerr picked up a headed backpass and dribbled in between two Courage defenders and towards goal. She took a touch to her right to get around Abby Erceg, and then drilled the ball into the back of the net to put the Red Stars up 3-1 and seal the win. She assisted on Michele Vasconcelos‘ goal in the 40th minute, which was the game-winning goal.
Kerr also made a big defensive clearance in the first half to keep the Courage from scoring a second goal.
It’s the eighth time that Kerr has won Player of the Week in her career, which ties her with Crystal Dunn for the most in league history.
Kerr is the second member of the Red Stars to win Player of the Week this season, joining Nagasato, who won in Week 3.
