North Carolina Courage midfielder McCall Zerboni will miss the rest of the NWSL season with a broken left elbow, the Courage announced on Wednesday.
The injury means that Zerboni will miss North Carolina’s home semifinal on September 16, and the rest of the NWSL postseason.
Zerboni was injured in the first minute of the U.S. women’s national team’s 4-0 win over Chile on Tuesday night in San Jose. She landed hard on her left elbow and immediately left the game. The game was Zerboni’s second international start, in just her seventh cap.
Zerboni has appeared in 20 games for the first-place Courage this season, scoring three goals and adding an assist. She’s the NWSL leader in tackles won (63) and is second in interceptions (70) and duels won (203).
