The Washington Spirit placed forward Francisca Ordega on the 45-day disabled list because of a chondral defect on her right knee, the team announced Thursday.
Ordega, who leads the Spirit with four goals this season, will undergo arthroscopic surgery. The team said she is expected to make a full recovery.
“Franny had had a great first half of the season,” Spirit head coach and general manager Jim Gabarra said in a team press release. “She has made great strides and improvements in her game. We all feel as bad as she feels but know she will be back.”
Also on Thursday, the Spirit announced that Cali Farquharson has been removed from the disabled list as is available for the team. She had been recovering from a torn ACL suffered on September 7, 2016 vs. Seattle Reign FC.
“Cali has done a tremendous job through the recovery process,” Gabarra said in the release. “She has looked very sharp in training and is ready to go.”
