HOUSTON (Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021) – Players, staff and supporters of the Houston Dynamo Football Club – including both Houston Dynamo FC and the Houston Dash – have joined forces to help Houstonians affected by this week’s devastating winter storm.
On Thursday, players for both teams launched the Players’ Winter Storm Relief Fund, which has raised nearly $20,000 so far to benefit the Houston Food Bank and Kids’ Meals Houston. This afternoon, Club staff and supporters joined forces at the Food Bank to help package and sort the food items that will go out to Houstonians in need.
The combined impact of the Players’ Winter Storm Relief Fund and today’s volunteer initiative will enable the Houston Food Bank and Kids’ Meals Houston to feed nearly 40,000 Houstonians.
As Houston began to recover from this week’s unprecedented winter storm, Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash players launched an online fundraising effort to feed the most vulnerable members our community. Players such as Zarek Valentin, Memo Rodriguez, Boniek García and Christian Ramirez for the Dynamo and Shea Groom, Megan Oyster, Gabby Seiler and Veronica Latsko for the Dash have been vocal supporters of the fundraiser.
Fundraising effort will continue through the weekend, and individuals interested in contributing to the fundraiser may find more information at HoustonDynamoFC.com.
