Marta scored her first NWSL goal, but Orlando couldn’t find its first win of the season on the road versus FC Kansas City. Midfielder Erika Tymrak scored in the 84th minute to earn FC Kansas City a 1-1 draw with the Pride at Children’s Mercy Victory Field in Kansas City, Missouri.

Marta’s goal came in the 73rd minute as a result of quick Orlando passing. Midfielder Kristen Edmonds passed to second half sub Jasmyne Spencer in the box, who tapped it to Marta at the top of the 18. Marta then raced past two FC Kansas City defenders before drilling a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart at the near post.

The 1-0 lead was short-lived for Orlando, however, as FC Kansas City equalized just 11 minutes later. Defender Yael Averbuch‘s free kick from just outside the penalty area struck the post, then bounced a bit in the box before crossing the goal line to make it 1-1. Tymrak appeared to be the last player to touch the ball as Orlando defenders tried to clear it.

Tymrak’s goal was FC Kansas City’s first since Amy Rodriguez scored in the 48th minute of Week 1.

Midfielder Monica was injured after a collision in the first minute and was immediately subbed out of the game.

The Pride are now 0-2-2 and the only NWSL team yet to find a win in 2017. FC Kansas City is 1-2-1.
