Seattle Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe has been ruled out of the United States women’s national team’s upcoming friendlies vs. Chile due to the rib injury that kept her out of Seattle’s 1-1 draw with the North Carolina Courage in Week 22, U.S. Soccer announced on Monday.
Rapinoe will be replaced on the roster by Utah Royals FC forward Amy Rodriguez. Rapinoe suffered the rib injury last week in Seattle’s 2-0 win over the Houston Dash.
The USWNT will play Chile on Friday, August 31, in Carson, California (11 p.m. ET, ESPN2) and Tuesday, September 4, in San Jose, California (10 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and UDN).
U.S. Soccer said that Rapinoe will still join the team in camp to evaluate the injury.
.@mPinoe will still join the #USWNT in camp for further evaluation of the injury. She will also be in San Jose when we host a first responder and a group of residents impacted by the Carr Fire as we continue to raise funds to benefit @ShastaRCF.
