The United States women’s national soccer team will host New Zealand in two September friendlies this fall. The first game will be at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado (10 p.m. ET, ESPN2) on Friday, September 15. The second will be held at Nippert Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati (7:30 p.m. ET, FS1) on Tuesday, September 19.
“The fall friendly matches are an important transition period to 2018 and we want to get the most out of them by continuing to play teams with World Cup and Olympic experience like New Zealand,” U.S. head coach Jill Ellis said in a U.S. Soccer press release. “Denver has been a fun place to play for our team over the years, but we also enjoy going to cities where we haven’t been in a while, like Cincinnati. The fans there have shown extraordinary support for their USL team and we’re looking forward to an enthusiastic crowd for our match as well.”
The USWNT last played at at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in June of 2016, a memorable 3-3 draw with Japan. It will be the first USWNT match in Cincinnati since 2008, and first at Nippert Stadium, the home stadium of the United Soccer League club FC Cincinnati.
The United States is 12-1-1 all-time versus New Zealand, with the only loss coming in 1987.
