Portland Thorns FC goalkeeper Adrianna Franch leads a list of 10 NWSL players named to the CONCACAF Female Best XI, announced on Tuesday. Franch was also named CONCACAF Female Goalkeeper of the Year.The honor caps off a record-breaking 2017 for Franch, who won the NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year award after recording 11 regular season clean sheets. She also earned a shutout in Portland’s 1-0 win over North Carolina in the NWSL Championship. Pride forward Alex Morgan, who was named Female Player of the Year on Sunday, was also named to the Best XI. NWSL players joining Morgan and Franch on the roster: Defenders Abby Dahlkemper (North Carolina Courage), Ali Krieger (Orlando Pride), Becky Sauerbrunn (Utah Royals FC) and Emily Menges (Portland Thorns FC); Midfielders Allie Long (Portland Thorns FC), Carli Lloyd (Houston Dash), Lindsey Horan (Portland Thorns FC); and forward Marta (Orlando Pride). UCLA and Canada midfielder Jessie Fleming was the only non-NWSL player named to the squad. Pride midfielder Camila‘s long-distance score vs. the Dash on June 17 finished second in Goal of the Year voting. The awards were voted on by CONCACAF coaches and captains, media and fans.
