Alex Morgan returned to training in Orlando on Friday, her first training session with the Pride since returning from her stint with Olympique Lyon in France, where she spent the first half of the year.The forward is expected to miss the next 3-4 weeks due to a hamstring injury she suffered while with Lyon, but she said she is running and was able to train a bit with the Pride. “I obviously had June 17 on my calendar as my first game back, but that’ll be prolonged a little bit. I’m just happy to be back with the girls,” Morgan told reporters on Friday. “I’ve missed this team a lot.” [Empty Body] She was originally injured in May and missed the French Cup Final as Lyon topped Paris Saint-Germain in penalty kicks. She returned for the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final on June 1 (also a Lyon penalty kicks win over PSG), but was subbed out early in the game. “We need to get her back on the field as safely as possible,” Pride coach Tom Sermanni said following practice. “We need to make sure we get her rehab completely right, so that when she walks back out on the field for us that she’s ready to go and we don’t risk her breaking down again.” When she does make her 2017 Pride debut, Morgan will be reunited with Marta, who she won a league title with as a Women’s Professional Soccer rookie on the 2011 Western New York Flash. “I know she’s going to be feeding some amazing balls in for me and scoring a ton of her own, so I’m excited to get on the field with her,” Morgan said. The Pride next face the Dash on Saturday, June 17 in Houston.
