When asked about her recent form and her recent habit of cutting in on the wings before taking a shot, she was quick to give credit to a key figure in her development: Christen Press, a player famous for her darting runs and huge goals.
"I definitely practice that after trainings a lot on matchday-1," Thompson shared during their post-match press conference on Monday evening, as reported by Justin Ruderman. Maddison Hammond chimed in, joking, "The Christen Press school of finishing." Thompson added, "I think that has really helped me a lot, just getting those reps in and getting that confidence."

"I definitely practice that after trainings a lot on matchday-1. Me and Christen usually go out and practice â"
Maddison Hammond interrupted, "The Christen Press school of finishing."
In Angel Cityâs latest match, Thompson showcased that confidence. She received a pass from Meggie Dougherty-Howard, cut past her defender just like Press does, and fired a shot off the post to give her team an early lead.

Itâs clear that the Christen Press effect has had a profound impact on the young Thompsonâs game. And with each goal she scores, she continues to show just how valuable that mentorship is.
