Rutgers University product currently leads all rookies in scoring
NEW YORK (May 1, 2025) - The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that Angel City FC forward Riley Tiernan has been named Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, for the month of April by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.
Tiernan has enjoyed a hot start to her professional career. After opening her NWSL scoring account in March, the rookie tallied a pair of goals across three matches in April, including a game-winning tally in Angel City’s 3-1 win over the Houston Dash, to continue her impressive debut.
A product of Rutgers University, Tiernan currently leads all rookies in scoring through six weeks of league play.
Ally, a financial services company with the nation’s largest all-digital bank and a leading brand in women’s sports, is also a primary sponsor of the NWSL and the official retail banking partner of the NWSLPA.
The NWSL Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league consistently, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of April are based on performances during NWSL regular season matches.
