Barbra Banda Scores Orlando Pride’s First-Ever Hat Trick

Barbra Banda made NWSL history on Friday night, netting the first hat trick in Orlando Pride history in a 3–1 win over Utah Royals FC at America First Field. All three goals came in the first half within 38 minutes from the first whistle, making Banda the fastest player in league history to complete a hat trick from the opening minute. Her performance also helped Orlando overcome a three game winless streak.

The Zambian international struck in the 6th, 37th, and 38th minutes, putting on a masterclass in finishing with help from teammates Ally Watt and Haley McCutcheon. In the process, Banda became the first African international to record a hat trick in the NWSL and brought her season tally to seven goals—tied for the league lead in the Golden Boot race, with the tiebreaker in her favor thanks to an assist. She now has 24 goals across all competitions for Orlando, surpassing Alex Morgan for second-most in club history.

Friday's win was a milestone night for more than just Banda. McCutcheon notched her first assist since joining the Pride in 2022, while Watt picked up her sixth career assist with the club. It’s the perfect way to head into the international break for the defending champions and depending on other results across the weekend, could see them end Week 10 second in the standings.
