Canada Soccer will honor five former NWSL players who are retiring from international soccer on Sunday before Canada hosts Costa Rica in Toronto (2 p.m. ET on TSN).
Kaylyn Kyle, Josée Bélanger, Lauren Sesselmann, Robyn Gayle and Jonelle Filigno will be honored Sunday afternoon.
Kyle has played for five NWSL teams in her career, most recently as a founding member of the Orlando Pride in 2016. She also spent time with the Seattle Reign (one of the original allocated players in the NWSL in 2013), Boston Breakers, Houston Dash and Portland Thorns FC. She was a member of Canada’s bronze medal-winning side at the Olympics in 2012. [Empty Body] Bélanger was also an original member of 2016 Orlando Pride. She won a bronze medal for Canada at the Olympics in 2016. [Empty Body] Filigno, Gayle and Sesselman also won bronze medals with Canada in 2012 and have played in the NWSL. Filigno spent two seasons with Sky Blue FC. Gayle played for the Washington Spirit and Sesselman is a former member of FC Kansas City and the Houston Dash. [Empty Body]
