[**Sam Mewis**](https://www.nwslsoccer.com/players/view/4tcmt910n2lj88n5m0aqoddcl) scored twice as the North Carolina Courage won on the road in Seattle 2-1 over the Reign in front of a crowd of 4,156 fans. The loss is the first home loss of the season for the Reign and snaps a 15-game unbeaten streak at Memorial Stadium. The Reign did extend their home scoring streak to 27 games despite the loss. The Courage are now 12-5-0 with 36 points, five points clear of the Thorns who sit in second place. The Reign are 6-5-6 with 24 points, two behind the Pride for the fourth and final playoff spot, but Seattle has played one less game than Orlando. The Reign were without **[Megan Rapinoe](https://www.nwslsoccer.com/players/view/29vjl1iba9rz14yd1g9qi4pn9)** (left meniscus tear) and [**Jess Fishlock**](https://www.nwslsoccer.com/players/view/93d5k82qrmjr894k2hp5aril1) (excused absence) for the game. McDonald dribbled down the left wing and into the box, sending a low cross to the feet of Williams, who laid it off for Mewis at the top of the 18. Mewis won the initial header and then cleaned up the rebound after a missed clearance by the Reign. The Courage get a rest after playing on Thursday this past week as they will not play until Saturday when they host the Spirit in the NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime. The Reign will visit the Red Stars on Wednesday and then visit Sky Blue FC on Saturday.
