Emily van Egmond is returning to the NWSL. The Orlando Pride have signed the Australian midfielder, the club announced Wednesday. The signing is pending receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.Van Egmond appeared in six games for Seattle Reign FC in 2013 and then ten games for the Chicago Red Stars in 2014. Most recently, van Egmond played for Newcastle Jets of the W-League in Australia, scoring four goals and five assists in 12 games this past season. “Emily is high-quality, creative midfield player with a determined and winning attitude, and the ability to get forward and score goals,” Pride coach Tom Sermanni said in a statement. “She also brings vast international experience to our squad, even though she’s only 24 years old. With World Cup, Olympic and Champions League experience, she is another strong addition to the Pride. We are thrilled to welcome her.” Sermanni is familiar with van Egmond as she earned her first cap in 2010 while he was Australia’s head coach. She went on to appear in three games at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup for Australia while Sermanni coached the team and has appeared regularly for Australia since then. She joins fellow Australian Alanna Kennedy on the Pride roster. The Matildas will next take part in the Algarve Cup, which begins February 28. After that, they’ll have their FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament, the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, from April 7-22.
