NEW YORK (December 9, 2025) - The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) today announced Gotham FC as the recipient of the 2025 NWSL Communications Team of the Year award, recognizing a landmark season of innovation, strategic storytelling and media excellence under Vice President of Communications Jeff Greer, along with manager Megan Santaniello and coordinator Cole Lembo-Kutner. Created in 2024, the award honors the team communications staff that most exemplifies excellence in public relations, strategic planning, creativity and effective communication, while demonstrating professionalism, integrity and a collaborative spirit in service of the media.
Operating in the country’s most demanding media market, Gotham FC’s three-person team delivered one of the league’s most comprehensive and forward-thinking communications programs this year. The group executed an ambitious mission to elevate soccer communications, advance business storytelling and further embed the club into New York’s cultural landscape. Their achievements include securing national television moments such as appearances on Late Night with Seth Meyers, CBS Mornings and Good Morning America, and major earned coverage around high profile signings as well as the club's title run in the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup earlier this year and the 2025 NWSL Championship, presented by Google Pixel, last month.
The team also expanded Gotham FC’s reach through community storytelling, including national visibility for the club’s Keep Her in the Game initiative, and launched the Gotham FC College Media Corps, creating a pipeline for emerging journalists across the New York region. From managing global attention around historic player milestones, elevating Gotham FC’s presence in fashion and culture, and ensuring seamless media operations and broadcast coordination, Greer, Santaniello and Lembo-Kutner delivered a standard of excellence distinguishing the team this season.
The NWSL Communications Team of the Year award was first introduced in 2024 when it was presented to the Orlando Pride communications team.
