Gotham’s three-goal performance propels them to CONCACAF final against Tigres Femenil

Week 10 in the NWSL technically kicks off tomorrow night, but Gotham and the Thorns got a head start.

Both competed in the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Women's Championship Cup semifinals on May 21, but only one advanced to Saturday’s championship game.

Gotham beat Club América, 3-1, advancing to the final, while the Thorns were defeated, 2-0, by Tigres Femenil.

Gotham notched three first-half goals, courtesy of Geyse, Midge Purce, and Jana Gutiérrez. The win secured Gotham’s fifth championship game appearance, all-time in all competitions. Including this weekend’s match, four of the five championship games have been since 2021. Gotham appeared in the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup and the 2024 NWSL Summer Cup, and they won the 2023 NWSL Championship.

While Gotham competes for the first place win, Portland still has a chance to take third. The Thorns will face Club América at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 24.

The championship match between Gotham and Tigres Femenil will take place at 10 p.m. ET in Estadio Universitario in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. You can stream both games on Paramount+.
