They are joined by two three-time honorees: Courage midfielder McCall Zerboni (April, May, June) and Portland Thorns FC midfielder Lindsey Horan (March, May, June). The first-place North Carolina Courage (12-1-3, 39 points) have the most players on the roster, with four. Dunn and Zerboni are joined by defenders Abby Erceg and Merritt Mathias. GK: Alyssa Naeher, Chicago Red Stars

Alyssa Naeher conceded just one goal in two appearances in June and made six saves as the Red Stars went 1-0-1 in those two games. She earned one clean sheet and posted a 0.33 GAA in June. * * *

D: Becca Moros, Utah Royals FC

Becca Moros appeared in all five games for Utah Royals FC last month, as Utah went 3-1-1. Moros created three chances from her outside back position. Defensively, she earned 11 clearances recorded nine interceptions, and won 11 tackles and 28 duels. * * *

D: Abby Erceg, North Carolina Courage

Once again, Abby Erceg played every minute of all four Courage games in June, and she remains the only North Carolina player to play every minute this season. As the Courage went 2-1-1 and conceded three goals in June, Erceg made eight clearances, 10 interceptions and four blocks. She also won 10 aerial duels. It’s the second straight appearance on the Team of the Month for Erceg. * * *

D: Becky Sauerbrunn, Utah Royals FC

Becky Sauerbrunn makes the NWSL Team of the Month for the fourth straight time. She was at her best in Utah’s upset of North Carolina, making 14 clearances, five interceptions and three blocks. She also won four tackles and eight duels in the match. On the month, Sauerbrunn had 27 clearances, 13 interceptions, five blocks, nine tackles won and 20 duels won. Sauerbrunn finished third in Player of the Month voting. * * *

D: Merritt Mathias, North Carolina Courage

Merritt Mathias scored twice in three games for the Courage in June. Defensively, she recorded eight clearances, three interceptions, six tackles won and 11 duels won in her 270 minutes for the Courage. * * *

M: Lindsey Horan, Portland Thorns FC

It’s Lindsey Horan’s third appearance on the Team of the Month (March, April, June). Horan made three appearances for the Thorns in June, playing 270 minutes. Horan made things happen on offense — she scored twice and took nine shots (four on goal), while recording four chances created. Defensively, she won 36 total duels, 17 aerial duels and three tackles. She also had six clearances and one interception while taking 247 total touches. * * *

M: Yuki Nagasato, Chicago Red Stars

Yuki Nagasato led the way on offense for Chicago in June. She scored twice in three games for the Red Stars and had 10 total shots, five shots on goal and six chances created. She also won 19 duels in 270 minutes as the Red Stars went 2-0-1 in the month. Nagasato finished second in Player of the Month voting. * * *

M: McCall Zerboni, North Carolina Courage

McCall Zerboni makes the Team of the Month roster for the third straight month. Zerboni played all 90 minutes in three June games, while holding down the midfield defensively for the Courage. On 241 total touches, she won 16 tackles, 35 total duels and seven aerial duels. She also had 12 interceptions, seven clearances and two chances created. * * *

F: Kealia Ohai, Houston Dash

Kealia Ohai played 283 minutes as the Dash went 1-1-1 in June. She was efficient, scoring two goals in just two shots on goal — including a long-distance strike that won Week 14 Goal of the Week honors. She also had three chances created and won 17 duels. * * *

F: Christine Sinclair, Portland Thorns FC

Christine Sinclair played every minute for the Thorns in June, as she has done all season — one of just two Thorns to do so. She scored a goal and two assists in four games. She also created 11 chances for the Thorns — seven of which game in Portland’s 1-1 draw with Sky Blue FC. She also made her presence known on defense with eight clearances, five tackles won, 25 total duels won and 14 aerial duels won. * * *

F: Crystal Dunn, North Carolina Courage

Crystal Dunn earned June Player of the Month honors after scoring two goals and an assist in three games for the Courage. In 270 minutes, she had 13 total shots, nine shots on goal and eight chances created. She also had six interceptions, six tackles won and 17 duels won, on 183 touches. Dunn joins Sauerbrunn as the only player to appear on the Team of the Month every month this season. * * * The NWSL Team of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
