NEW YORK (June 5, 2025) - The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Kansas City Current Forward Temwa Chawinga has been named the Player of the Month, presented by EA SPORTS, for the month of May by the NWSL Media Association.
The reigning NWSL MVP and Golden Boot winner, Chawinga scored in three straight games to close out the month. With her game-winning goal against the Pride on May 16, Chawinga became the fastest player in league history to notch 25 goals. It took her just 34 games to reach the milestone.
Chawinga has 6 goals on the season, tying her with Washington’s Ashley Hatch and Angel City’s Riley Tiernan for third.
The Current won the three matches that Chawinga scored, further securing their place at the top of the table with 24 total points.
The NWSL Player of the Month, presented by EA SPORTS, is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and the NWSL's on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of May are based on performances during NWSL regular season matches.
