The veteran coach led the Current to an undefeated August
NEW YORK (September 4, 2025) - The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that Kansas City Current Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski has been named Coach of the Month for the month of August by the NWSL Media Association and the league’s on-air broadcast talent.
The Kansas City Current became the first and only NWSL team to clinch their playoff spot with a win on August 30, closing out an undefeated month. Under Andonovski’s leadership, the Current haven’t lost a game since May 2.
While the offense is firing on all cylinders, Kansas City’s defense has been a strong point. The Current have held opponents scoreless for the last six games and have a goal differential of a whopping +26. Andonovski’s Current are running away with first place; 14 points separate Kansas City and second place Washington.
The NWSL Coach of the Month is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league consistently, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of August are based on performances during regular season matches.
