The veteran coach led the Current to a historic September
NEW YORK (October 2, 2025) - The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that Kansas City Current Vlatko Andonovski has been named Coach of the Month for the month of September by the NWSL Media Association and the league’s on-air broadcast talent.
The Kansas City Current continued their winning ways in September, and with Andonovski at the helm, it was a historic month that saw the Current lift the NWSL Shield in Week 21. They are the fastest club in league history to clinch the Shield, doing so with five games left in the season.
In addition to an active 15-game undefeated streak, the Current set a new record for consecutive shutout minutes, keeping clean sheets for 870 minutes. In September, they outscored their opponents 8-1. Andonovski’s Current are the only team who remains undefeated at home, and with 18 wins, the team is one shy of setting a new league single-season record.
The NWSL Coach of the Month is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league consistently, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of June are based on performances during regular season matches.
