Houston Dash vs. NJ/NY Gotham FC
Houston, Texas – NJ/NY Gotham FC (5-1-5, 20 points) scored in the 89' to even the game at 1-1 as both the Houston Dash (5-5-2, 17 points) and Gotham FC earned one National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) point.
The Houston Dash were able to jump out to the 1-0 lead early in the second-half after Gabby Seiler finished off a corner kick with a strike to the top left of the goal in the 51st minute. Gotham quickly tried to tie the game as they were able to find the back of the net but were caught just offside in the 53'. However, NJ/NY eventually was able to find the equalizing goal in the 89' as Ifeoma Onumonu fired in just past two defenders and the goalie as Delanie Sheehan picked up the assist. The tie for Gotham continues their club record unbeaten streak and pushes it to eight games (4-0-4). NJ/NY kept the offensive pressure up throughout the match as they were the first team this season to record over 16 shots against Houston tallying 21 total shots. This is the first draw between the two clubs in the last eight meetings as Gotham has won three in a row after the Dash won the previous five. NJ/NY is now set for a two-game home stand, kicking it off with a game against the North Carolina Courage on Saturday, August 7th at 7:00 PM ET. Houston's next match will be on August 7th when they travel to take on the OL Reign with game time set for 10:00 PM ET.
