Kansas City Current goalkeeper Adrianna Franch made eight saves in the team’s 1-0 loss to the Reign on Wednesday. She has two losses this season in which she made at least eight saves, while all other NWSL goalkeepers have just one such loss in 2022 (Phallon Tullis-Joyce). Her performance saw her jump to the top of the saves chart with 26 in five matches. Still the only goals scored by Kansas City have come from forwards **Elyse Bennett** and **Kristen Hamilton** , who helped earn a point in a 2-2 draw in Orlando.
Racing Louisville forward **Jessica McDonald** delivered her 27 ^th career assist in NWSL league play on Racing’s lone goal in their win over Gotham FC on Sunday. The assist moved McDonald out of a tie with former teammate Lynn Williams for most assists by a player in NWSL history. McDonald also leads the side in goals scored (two) and is jointly in the lead in the shots on target (four) and total shots (nine) categories.
**Match facts:** The only match on Memorial Day helps end the holiday weekend right as the Kansas City Current host Racing Louisville FC at Children’s Mercy Park for a late afternoon kickoff.
The hosts Kansas City have been shut out in four of their five games played this season, having scored both of their goals in one game. The Current also scored just two goals through five games in 2021, becoming the only NWSL team to have scored two or fewer goals through five games in two different seasons.
Meanwhile, Louisville is on a four-game unbeaten run (W2 D2) with each of its last two games being 1-0 wins. It’s the longest league unbeaten streak in team history and the first time Racing has ever had consecutive shutout victories.
The two teams that joined the league in 2021, Kansas City and Louisville, will be meeting for the just the sixth time in all NWSL competitions, though. In their three all-time regular season matchups, each team won once with the other game being a scoreless draw in the first ever meeting between the teams.
