Match Recap: Harris Becomes All-Time NWSL Leader in Saves, Pride Win 1-0 Over Gotham

NJ/NY Gotham FC vs. Orlando Pride

Harrison, New Jersey – After both teams played to a draw in their first match up of the season, it was the visiting Orlando Pride (6-5-6, 24 points) that came away with the 1-0 victory over the NJ/NY Gotham FC (5-5-6, 21 points) in today's contest.

Orlando's Ashlyn Harris made National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) history as she became the all-time league leader in saves with a total of 469. After a scoreless first-half, it was the Pride that scored in the 49' when Erika Tymrak sent in a beautiful ball from just outside the right corner of the 18-yard box that went just over the leaping keeper and under the crossbar. Sydney Leroux picked up the assist. With the goal, the Pride have now scored in 17 consecutive road matches in regular season play. That is the longest such streak in NWSL history (previous was 15). Gotham was held scoreless for just the third time out of the 13 regular season meetings between the two clubs. Gotham will remain at home as they will host the Chicago Red Stars at 7:00 PM ET on Saturday, September 4th. Orlando will head home for their next contest on Sunday, September 5th when the Pride will host the Houston Dash.
