**Seattle, Washington –** OL Reign remain unbeaten and now ride a four game winning streak after defeating Angel City FC, 2-1, at Lumen Field on Sunday night.
After battling it out for the first half hour, OL Reign opened the scoring in the 33 ^rd minute through forward Bethany Balcer. Played in on goal by teammate Ally Watt, Balcer ripped an effort that was both too strong and too well-placed for Angel City ‘keeper DiDi Haracic to stop despite her best efforts.
A relatively even encounter through the rest of the first half, the Reign held fast to its 1-0 lead at halftime and carried it well into the second 45 minutes.
Still fighting back to try for an equalizer, Angel City would not relent and ended up finding the game-tying goal late on in the 83 ^rd minute. Following a corner for the visitors, the ball was initially cleared to the top left side of penalty area where Angel City’s Jun Endo was there to meet it. Taking the ball toward the endline, Endo powered a cross toward the right-center of the penalty area where she found attacker Simeone Charley. Charley ended up on the end of the header and looped her effort high over the reach of Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce as the visitors began to believe they had preserved at least a point.
However, not buoyed by the challenge, the Reign would eventually find their way back in front after four minutes of stoppage time that saw midfielder Olivia Van der Jagt net the winner. In a somewhat last-ditch effort to punt the ball into the box, defender Lauren Barnes found her way forward and possessed the ball on the left flank. Bombing a cross into the center of the penalty area, Van der Jagt was able to rise and meet the ball just right of the penalty spot and propel a header past Haracic for one of the last touches of the match.
No question the result keeps OL Reign in front in the West Division, while Angel City still sits bottom following the close loss. Next, the Reign face San Diego to close out the group stage while Angel City FC hosts Portland
