Match Recap: Orlando & Houston Clash, Draw 1-1

Orlando Pride vs. Houston Dash

Orlando, Florida – The visiting Houston Dash (6-7-4, 22 points) scored in the first-half but the host Orlando Pride (6-5-7, 25 points) were able to score late as the team played to a 1-1 tie. The draw pushes the Dash's unbeaten streak to nine matches against the Pride (7-0-2), as Orlando had won five of the seven matches prior to the current run.

Houston would take off with the early lead in the 10' after the Dash sent a nice through ball to the right edge off the 18-yard box that deflected off a defender right to Rachel Daly who fired it past the diving goalkeeper. However, Orlando was able to find the equalizing goal when Meggie Dougherty Howard stepped up to take a corner kick in the 79' and found a leaping Taylor Kornieck who headed the ball off the crossbar and just past the goal-line to tie the game, 1-1. The late goal for the Pride continues their trend of closing out games strong as it is the eighth goal scored in the final 15' of action this regular season. With the result, Houston snapped their 15-game regular season streak of not recording a draw on the road, a streak that dated back to 2019 (4-11-0). It was the fourth time in NWSL history that a team had gone draw-less in 15 or more straight road games in regular season play. The Pride will remain at home for their next contest as they are set to host Racing Louisville FC on Saturday, September 11th with game time at 7:00 PM ET. Houston will now take a break from their NWSL regular season schedule as they are set to resume on Sunday, September 26th when they travel to take on Racing Louisville FC at 3:00 PM ET. NWSL Commissioner, Lisa Baird also announced at halftime of the match that the 2021 NWSL Championship will be hosted in Portland Oregon at Providence Park.
