Orlando Pride vs. OL Reign
Orlando, Florida – OL Reign (4-6-1, 13 points) traveled across the country and earned three big National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) points as they defeated the Orlando Pride (4-4-4, 16 points) by a score of 2-0.
The Reign continued their success early in matches as Tziarra King was able to turn the Pride over in their attacking area, then found Jessica Fishlock who got into the 18' box where she fired a shot in between the goalkeeper and the left post in the 10'. The goal, was the sixth total goal scored for OL Reign in the first 15 minutes of play this season.
Ashlyn Harris stepped up big in the 20' as she turned away two close shots to keep the game 1-0. Harris recorded five saves in the first-half (10 total).
The Reign continued their offensive attack early in the second half and was able to find another goal in the 51' when they once again caused a turnover in their offensive end. Eugenie Anne Claudine Le Sommer found King who had a great finish as she curled the ball to the back right of the net from the left side of the box to give her team the 2-0 lead. Shortly after the goal, OL Reign was awarded a penalty kick after a hard tackle in the box by Orlando. Fishlock stepped up to the spot and once again, Harris came up with the save making her fifth straight penalty save of 2021. The win pushed the OL Reign unbeaten streak against Orlando to 10 games (3-0-7) and marked the clubs first victory in Exploria Stadium. The Pride's next match will be on Sunday, July 31 as they will travel to take on the North Carolina Courage with kickoff at 7:00 PM ET. Up next for the OL Reign will be the first of a two-game home stand as they are first set to host Racing Louisville FC on Saturday, July 31 with game time set for 10:00 PM ET.
