**PORTLAND, Ore.** – In an exhilarating encounter at Providence Park, Portland Thorns FC secured a commanding 4-2 victory over the Washington Spirit in a highly anticipated clash to kick off a packed weekend of action. The win puts Portland in 1 ^st place with 23 points from 13 games, while Washington remain in 2 ^nd place with 22 points from the same amount of games played.
The match kicked off with both teams displaying their attacking intent right from the start. The Thorns, playing in front of their passionate home crowd, took an early lead in the 11 ^th minute.
